Children’s Autism Rates on the Rise
A study was recently released by health officials stating that some form of autism can be found in 1 out of 100 eight year olds. This study states that these numbers include everything from full blown autism to children with “social difficulties” as well as different kinds of “learning and sensory problems”. Truthfully, this number does not seem very staggering when put in that perspective, but it is important to note that this is the highest estimate on record with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
This number, up from 1 in 300 in the early 2000s, was found by studying health records of 400,000 children, not the children themselves. Furthermore, the diagnosis of such conditions is obtained through studying the childrens’ behaviors and interactions. Both of these point to evidence that a portion of this growth could be attributed to increased awareness in recent years, however genuine growth of this problem cannot be ruled out.
Many health experts agree to a pretty simple philosophy. You should protect the brains of your children by educating yourself about their health and diet. The key is to build their immune system in order to prevent disease and reduce the risk factors associated with a developing brain. Eliminate white sugar, white bread and white pasta from childrens’ diets all together as these have almost no nutritional benefit and usually do more harm than good. Organic eating with lots of fruits and vegetables is always a good place to start, but a whole food supplement, antioxidants and fatty acids can also help protect their brain. Fatty acid complex (liquid) nourishes the nerves in their brain promoting proper health and development. Finally, research vaccinations with their potential risk of metals and the striking link to autism. Protecting your children and training their diets at a young age will pay huge dividends in the long run.
