Learn more about the thyroid
NUTRITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
Iodine's primary roles are as a component of thyroid hormone and the regulation of cellular oxidation. The thyroid hormone accelerates cellular reactions, increase oxygen consumption, increase growth and aid protein synthesis. Iodine is an integral part of thyroxine, a principal hormone produced by the thyroid gland. The conversion of carotene to Vitamin A, the synthesis of protein by ribosomes, the absorption of carbohydrates from the intestine all work more efficiently when thyroxine production is normal. Iodine deficiencies can result in endemic goiter or hypothyroidism. Studies have shown that low iodine is implicated in endocrine disturbances that could lead to an increased risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Iodine is a cofactor for enzymes involved in the immune system, including catalase and myeloperoxidase, which are both bactericidal.
DESCRIPTION OF BIO-OLIGO ELEMENTS:
History. These Homeopathic nutrients were found in the mineral waters of the spas and mineral baths of Europe. In the 1930's, researchers became curious about the healing properties of natural hot spring waters. By testing them they determined that it was the trace minerals in the water that caused nearly miraculous results in healing many different symptoms. By experimenting with the various minerals and various disease conditions, a healing repertory was developed. Product Description. Mediral’s Oligo elements are made from pure trace minerals, usually in the gluconate form because of their high solubility and ionic nature. The minerals are potentized in a base of 20% Ethanol and 5% potato dextrose (no corn products used). The dextrose base promotes the sublingual absorption of the ionic mineral by opening up the parenchymal cells that line the base of the mouth. The minerals are in a similar concentration to levels required by enzymes and biological systems. Physiology. Their action is threefold: 1. The trace mineral will activate enzymes by becoming the active agent in the enzyme site. 2. Heavy minerals may fill enzyme sites but have no activity in that site, thus enzyme clinkers are formed which the body cannot use. Nutrient Oligo minerals may displace toxic minerals on the surface of cells, as well as the toxic minerals which occupy the sites of activity in the enzyme thereby activating the enzyme for use in the body. For instance, copper may displace the toxic mineral mercury, and zinc may displace the toxic mineral cadmium, thereby allowing the enzyme to use the mineral needed to activate it. 3. The Oligo minerals also act homeopathically to add energy to the body and to aid, in some cases, the detoxification process.
