Food Additives to Avoid
People often ask what food additives they should be sure to avoid. Before I answer this question, I would like to explore the purpose of these ingredients. The vast majority of elements we suggest you avoid in food are additives and preservatives with some classified as excitotoxins. These chemicals are used to preserve as well as enhance the color, flavor and appearance of the product.
If you think like we do, then you are also wondering why foods would need these added “services”. All of us usually prefer fresh foods to anything else. When most people are served really fresh foods they appreciate the color, appearance and most of all the great taste.
Why then would foods need to be processed or enhanced? Could it be that they would otherwise not be fit for consumption or maybe in order to extend the shelf life they must be “de-natured”? The truth is simply this: by adding these chemicals to our food supply, manufacturers can mass produce the food in larger quantities and extend the shelf life of their product while “enhancing flavor”. Basically, chemicals are used to increase their profit margins.
Before we continue I understand that you may be thinking, “It’s such a small amount of toxins I don’t see how ingesting them can be so harmful. Surely food companies would not put something so dangerous on the shelves.” You’re right, they are very small amounts of pesticides or additives that are in each piece of food you eat, but ask yourself, can your body truly consume small amounts of poison every day and not be affected? Not likely.
When considering the idea of organic, healthy eating, many people believe it is price prohibitive and unrealistic. People are unfamiliar with the idea that organic, healthy foods, when prepared correctly, will actually taste better than their processed counterparts. And because the body is getting the nutrients it needs, people will tend to eat less. The end result is that it can actually save them money on their grocery bills.
With the right knowledge and recipes, we can enjoy the same meals we currently love, only in a much healthier way. Our overall message is: the simpler the better. Stick to foods with few ingredients and preferably ones that you can pronounce without a dictionary. Start by staying away from things like aspartame, monosodium glutamate, high fructose corn syrup, trans fats and hydrogenated oils. Make sure your fish is wild caught and your meats were not given antibiotics or hormones. Finally, if you want to take your health a step further, click here for a printable list of Food Additives to Avoid. Feel free to post this on your refrigerator or take it to the grocery store with you.

Noah, the Dove
These little bunnies, about 6 days old, were attacked by a dog and orphaned. Two out of the litter of five did not survive, and these three were not doing very well.
Noah is a non-releasable, one-legged homing pigeon/rock dove that is in the rehab centre. Noah kept going over to the bunny cage and looking in — even sleeping in front of the door to the cage.
Then, suddenly, there were only two bunnies in the cage. But when Noah moved a bit from the front of the cage to everyone’s surprise…there was the tiny bunny…under Noah’s wing….sound asleep! That little bunny rabbit had crawled through the cage, preferring a featherbed, no doubt to snuggling up with its littermates!
Now, they are all together and the bunnies are doing GREAT. When the bunnies scoot underneath Noah’s feathers, he carefully extends his wings out to surround them and then they snuggle. When one of them moves and they start sticking out here and there, he gently pushes them back under him with his beak! It is beautiful and amazing to see…
This is what God does with us when we need the warmth and love He offers. He gathers us under His loving wings to a warm cradle of protection. All we need do in return is give Him the thanks and praise for being with us.
We are Bob and Georganne Lenham of Wild Rose Rescue Ranch in Texas , home of Noah the Pigeon.
After finding many posts online featuring Noah and the bunnies and reading about the many lives he has touched (his story has been forwarded around the world) we thought we’d post a follow-up. We knew there was something special about Noah the moment we saw him. Although the bunnies seem to be his favorite, Noah helps out with many rescue babies here at the Wild Rose Rescue Ranch. How wonderful it is to have a full-time soft-feathered nurturer here at the rescue ranch! He cuddles with all the babies as they snuggle under his warm feathers…and he “coos” as if singing them to sleep with a lullaby.

Irish Luck
His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he
heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog.
There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.
The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman’s sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.
‘I want to repay you,’ said the nobleman. ‘You saved my son’s life.’
‘No, I can’t accept payment for what I did,’ the Scottish farmer replied waving off the offer. At that moment, the farmer’s own son came to the door of the family hovel.
‘Is that your son?’ the nobleman asked. ‘Yes,’ the farmer replied proudly.
‘I’ll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education my own son will enjoy If the lad is anything like his father, he’ll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of.’ And that he did.
Farmer Fleming’s son attended the very best schools and in time, graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.
Years afterward, the same nobleman’s son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia. What saved his life this time? Penicillin.
The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill .. his son’s name? Sir Winston Churchill.

The History of Thieves
The History of Thieves™
Europeans began producing essential oils in the 12th century. During the Plague of the 15th century, certain thieves were able to rob the dead without fear of becoming infected by the terrible disease. After being captured and charged with robbing the dead and dying victims of the plague, the thieves were offered a deal. The magistrate offered them leniency if they would reveal how they managed to avoid contracting the dreaded infection, in spite of their close proximity with the infected corpses. They disclosed that they were perfumers and spice traders, and that they had rubbed themselves with a concoction of aromatic herbs (cinnamon, and clove).
Thieves™ Blend was found to have a 99.6 percent kill rate against airborne bacteria!
When Ancient Tradition Links with Modern Society: Thieves™ Blend
